Koekelberg
List 1 List of the mayor
Koekelberg is the Chocolate Village with numerous cultural hubs. Despite the very dense city fabric, there is plenty of green space: Elisabeth Park, Victoria Park, Noville Park, and soon a new small park on Jean-Jacquet Street.
With Vooruit.brussels, we are further developing Jourdan Village as a social hub, with the Social Welfare Office and a residential and neighborhood center for seniors. At the “Burgercafé” or “citizencafe”, everyone is welcome for all kinds of social information and activities.
Koekelberg is a small, friendly municipality.
The challenges in our municipality are affordable housing, keeping public spaces clean, and providing a place where young people can meet. In short, a municipality where everyone feels at home.
This is what we want to commit ourselves to:
- Accessible municipal services for everyone
- Elderly people should be able to live in their own environment for as long as possible
- Children deserve a place to play
- Job seekers should be helped to find a job
- Young people have the right to their own youth centre
- Affordable housing for everyone
Culture is an important binding agent for our municipality: across language borders, supported by all residents. For example, in addition to the Stepmanhuis and the Belgian Chocolate Village, we want a new cultural centre on the Simonisplein!
