Evere

List 1 List of the mayor

Living in Evere is a pleasure. It is a vibrant municipality with a strong sense of community, where you can also find peace in its many green spaces. And above all: Evere is a municipality that pays special attention to social cohesion. Think of social housing, numerous public sports and playgrounds, and many social and cultural services, the Public Center for Social Welfare (OCMW), and other municipal non-profit organizations.

How do we want to improve life in Evere?

  • We want to bring the two linguistic communities closer together and improve the knowledge of French and Dutch by organizing, for example: bilingual play afternoons, language exchange programs, cultural events, language buddy systems, family activities, etc. We also aim to expand the Dutch-speaking offer in Upper Evere by opening the Simone de Beauvoir hall.
  • Keeping Evere clean and livable by making it clear to illegal dumpers that their behavior will not be tolerated. We want increased enforcement, fines, awareness campaigns, community involvement, a simple reporting service, etc.
  • Evere, with a lively and inclusive environment where everyone can actively enjoy public life: continue investing in playgrounds, sports facilities, the beautification of squares, green spaces, and community events.
  • Improving and expanding housing options: expanding emergency housing, offering rental information, assisting with waitlist registration, guiding eviction processes, launching intergenerational housing projects, and increasing the number of homes through the social rental agency Hector Denis to improve housing security for all Evere residents.
  • Further supporting and expanding literacy courses to promote better coexistence.
  • Ongoing support and guidance for students monitored by the OCMW, because a diploma or qualification is a springboard for life!
  • Hiring additional social workers at the OCMW to handle social assistance applications more efficiently and quickly.
  • Increasing the visible presence of community guards in the streets so that both residents and entrepreneurs feel safer in their neighborhood.
  • Education as a priority: investing in smaller class groups, better support for teachers, and modernization of ICT infrastructure. We strive for a municipal policy that actively contributes to attracting and retaining quality teaching staff through targeted financial and policy support, and reduced bureaucracy. Together, we are building a stronger future for our schools and children.
