Guy Swinnen Band

Guy Swinnen - with new work on the way - will tour the summer festivals again in 2025 together with his Guy Swinnen Band (David Piedfort, Bart Buls, Marcus Weymaere)! It will be an unforgettable year for Guy as we celebrate his 65th birthday. Singer-songwriter Swinnen still guarantees a solid portion of rock 'n' roll live. Own songs, a few known and lesser-known classic rock gems and here and there a Scabs song.

Kaat Van Stralen

Kaat Van Stralen cannot be pigeonholed just like that. What began as an original solo project grew into a genre-transcending punk band, supplemented by Melvin Slabbinck (drums), Anton Robberechts (guitar) and Faust De Vogelaere (bass). Kaat herself takes care of the vocals. Strict but fair, Kaat calls all genres to order. From punk and psychedelics to alternative spoken word. Expect heated language chatter, cracking beats, bitty guitar riffs and pompous bass. Kaat Van Stralen was the winner of the most recent edition of “De Nieuwe Lichting”.

Customs

Customs formed in early 2008. Everything they knew about making music, touring and “being in a band” the 4 musicians had learned in the punk/hardcore scene that flourished in the years just before and after Y2K.
In 2023, however, they picked up where they left off, under the radar. Now the band resurfaces, with two new singles and a promise to release new music every month from now on, hopefully for years to come. Kristof and co once again answer the question of what post-punk can still be in 2025 and return to their DIY punk roots of a quarter century ago.

Phoenician Drive

Phoenician Drive is a six-piece band formed in Brussels in 2016 with the intention to make drums and fuzz guitars meet with oud, rek and other Eastern percussions. In the footsteps of earlier East-West musical blendings from 70’s like Erkin Koray or Orient Express, and under the influence of the German kraut-rock scene (Neu!, Can, Faust, ...), Phoenician Drive went searching for hypnotic trance based on distorted oriental grooves.

Bex

Bex is the Brussels-based alt-pop band led by singer and songwriter Rebecca Driesmans. Together with musicians Sander Huys (bass) and Victor Khaddaj (drums), she delivers a blend of warm vocals, ethereal textures, and sharp-witted songwriting. Their music is influenced by artists like Bernice, Genevieve Artadi, and Anna Wise. In 2024, they released their debut EP ‘The Kitchen’. Outside of Bex, the three musicians are also involved in their own projects. In March, Victor launched his first effects pedal (Butterfly Effects), and Sander plays in several bands (AYATARU, Pragana). Their music was recently described by a listener as "melancholic and hopeful".

DJ iNess

iNess is a Brussels-based music enthusiast and resident DJ for BRUZZ, the pulse of local radio in Brussels. She mixes genres like RnB, Hip-Hop, Afro, Neosoul, Funk and House. In her mixes, she recreates the warmth of sunlight's loving embrace with each note gently caressing your senses, bringing light and positive energy that only melody and lyricism can reveal.

Fanfakids

No One May festival without a parade. Percussion Group Fanfakids will be there again to festively open our festival. This motley crew of Brussels youngsters perform a mixture of metropolitan music genres they grew up with in lower Molenbeek, the Marolles and other working-class neighbourhoods of Brussels, interspersed with rousing breakbeat performances. Standing still will be difficult!

FAQ

Do I have to pay for the festival?

No. One May festival is free. You do not have to pay an entrance fee.

Will there be toilets available?

Yes, there will be free cabin facilities at the Marché aux Porcs.

I have a wheelchair, is the festival accessible for me?

The festival takes place in the public space and is accessible for wheelchairs. A toilet for people with reduced mobility is available.

How do I get there?

The Marché aux Porcs is car-free during the One May festival. We recommend you come on foot, by bike or by public transport. We will set up a bicycle parking space next to the festival site. The nearest metro stop is Sainte-Catherine. Or you can take bus 89 (Central station-Westland shopping) to the Dansaert stop.

If you do come by car, there are two paying car parks nearby: Q-park Brussels Lepage or Q-park Dansaert.

Can I park my bicycle?

We provide extra space to park your bicycle next to the Marché aux Porcs.

Can I get something to drink and eat at the festival site?

Yes indeed. There is a range of different drinks at democratic prices. Drinks can be paid for with tokens or with a drink card.

We selected two Brussels food trucks to stand on the square. Pay with food vouchers.

You can buy tokens and drink cards at the counter.

How sustainable is the festival?

We organise this city festival as sustainably as possible.

For example, we work with reusable cups, we encourage people to come by bike, we rent our festival equipment and we give a stage to local artists or associations. We also sell local Brussels products.

Is the festival also for children?

Yes. No childcare is provided, but we have a programme tailored to children. See also the programme.

What measures do you take around safe partying for everyone?

We have a large team of volunteers. You will recognise them by their t-shirt and badge. They walk around the square and keep an eye on things. You can always speak to them.

In addition, we work with the Ask Angela system. Do you feel unsafe? Then you can ask for Angela at the bar, the counter and the info point. Our volunteers are informed and will help you further.
