I have always been interested in politics. But when I came to live in Brussels, I decided to actively get involved. The city had won my heart. But I saw, especially in the neighbourhood where I lived at the time, Cureghem, that many people were left out. It roused my sense of justice and I wanted to be able to contribute to structural solutions for my neighbourhood, my municipality, my city.
After my law studies, I came to live in Brussels to work in the Flemish and Brussels administration. Since 2013, I have also been working for a better social housing policy. Because feeling good in the neighbourhood starts with being able to live in affordable, quality housing.
Social housing
For example, I was a director of the social housing company in Anderlecht for 7 years, and chairman of the Brussels Regional Housing Company for 3 years. There, I focused on improving the organisation, more efficiency in administration and more cooperation across municipalities. I am very proud that I have championed the cause of renovating in a better and smarter way, and played a part in it. And that we increased investment in new social housing projects. Finally, since October 2024, I became a deputy in Anderlecht, in charge of Economy and Employment, Finance and Dutch Affairs.
A Brussels where you feel at home
Brussels should be a city where everyone feels at home in their neighbourhood. A city where everyone sees each other and looks after each other. With neighbourhoods where everything is close at hand: nice local shops, quality schools and day care centres, pleasant parks and convivial meeting places for residents.
