“I’ve been working in Dutch-speaking education in Brussels for 20 years, pouring my whole heart into it. Every child must become the best version of themselves, whether they have a talent for working with their heads or with their hands. And the level of Dutch in our schools needs to be raised, because that is the key to success.”

Multilingualism is an asset in our city. On one condition: children should have enough elementary knowledge of Dutch. Because a language deficit = a learning deficit.

We need to upgrade practical education and value it more. The choice for a practical education is still too often considered inferior. That’s a shame because the Brussels job market is desperate for well-trained professionals.

A teacher who chooses to work in Brussels should be rewarded for it. I want there to be more breathing space for teachers in Brussels, by employing co-teachers to lighten their burden. They need more support and an education tailored to a metropolis.

Flanders is competent for childcare and education in Brussels. That’s why we need to make sure there are strong representatives for Brussels in the Flemish Parliament. That’s why I support Hannelore. She wants to ensure strong childcare and quality education so every child can take a good start in life.
