Growth opportunities for young people
"I want to dedicate myself to growth opportunities for young people. That is why I think we need to continue focusing on quality Dutch-speaking education, because language is often an important asset in the job market. There should be more and better projects working with youth, because it is the best way to get young people off the streets.
Impunity in Brussels must urgently be addressed. It is just not normal that if you commit a criminal act, you are back on the streets the following day.
My background
I am Ilyas Mouani, I am 26 years old and I grew up in the Cité Modèle in Laeken with my mother and sister. Today, I work for Kinepolis. I am married and I recently became a father. I am also a youth worker and founder of Nakama asbl: a community of young people working for the youth of Brussels. And finally, I was chairman of the FCC Youth Council.
Brussels as the epitome of a European metropolis
Today, politicians are not sufficiently in touch with young people in Brussels, and I want to fight for that. I dream of Brussels as a model of what a European metropolis can be. That is why Brussels must be clean, dynamic and affordable.
