Afdeling Jette

List 1 Ps-Vooruit

Together, we are building a better Jette!

Clean streets: underground containers, a local recycling park, more mobile container parks, smart public bins... Cameras to combat illegal dumping and fines for repeat offenders.

Livable neighborhoods: safe traffic, clean air, beautiful public spaces with a focus on sustainable mobility. A real dialogue with residents, with attention to suppliers, people with limited mobility, and those working in shifts, must lead to less polarization.

A carefree childhood: affordable, high-quality, and sufficient childcare. Sports, art, and play activities after school for every child. Free school meals and homework support classes. Quality playgrounds in every neighborhood, a children's farm, and a traffic park that are accessible to children, even during their free time.

Affordable housing: investing in affordable (rental) housing with private and regional actors. Priority for people in essential professions (such as education and healthcare) who must be able to stay in our municipality. Our collective renovation plan ensures that everyone can insulate their homes: good for the climate and the wallet.

4. Patricia Rodrigues da Costa

Patricia holds a degree in political science (VUB) and public relations. She works as a Public Affairs advisor at Infrabel, is a municipal councillor and OCMW member in Jette, and vice-chairman of Visit Brussels. As a Vooruit activist (formerly sp.a) since 2002, she started her career at the communication department of Vooruit and was press officer of the first female Senate President. Patricia is committed to supporting single parents, improving accessibility to housing, mobility and tackling period poverty. As a mother of two teenagers, she attaches great importance to sports and culture for everyone. With her roots in a large family and her pride in her Congolese and Portuguese descent, Patricia embodies the cosmopolitan identity of Brussels. She is a passionate socialist who loves jogging, reading and R&B.

10. Inssafe El M'Allem

Inssafe is 27 years old and lives in the Lourdes district. Her laugh and her commitment are infectious. As a proud Belgian-Moroccan, she is a barrel full of socialist enthusiasm and therefore the perfect voice for young people who want a city in which they are given and take opportunities. She combines her work as a social worker at an insurance company with her studies in political science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. As a volunteer in a homework class in Molenbeek, she notices how the opportunities of children and young people today are still too strongly determined by the place where their cradle stood.

21. Frank Verstappen

Frank is 61 years old and lives in the Dikke Beuk district. He works as a clerk and is known in Jette football circles as the secretary of the Ritterklub, the Dutch-speaking football club of Jette. There he sees many sporty children and young people giving the best of themselves every week. Through his involvement in the Ritterklub he realizes better than anyone that sport is not only healthy, but also connects young people from different backgrounds. For Frank, a sports club has an important social role to play in addition to a sporty one.

25. Tom Leyssens

Tom is 45 years old and lives near the Jeugdpark. He is the proud father of two foster children. Seeing them grow up in a multicultural, urban environment made him an advocate for equal opportunities for every child. In his spare time, he is involved in the school board, the parent committee and the Ritterklub, the football club of Jette. As a professor of chemistry at the university, he realizes better than anyone how important it is to guide our youth, so that they can find their place in society without worries. Tom is committed to equal educational opportunities, offering a wide range of youth activities, and creating an intercultural youth offer.

24. Suzy Bleys

Suzy Bleys (47) has lived in the capital for half her life and moved to the pleasant Jette 5 years ago. She loves her municipality and sees how things can and should be improved. For everyone. Jette could certainly show even more ambition. Less fly-tipping, affordable housing for all Jette residents and a more diverse range of leisure and hospitality options. The many forests and parks are a unique asset for Jette. Why don't we make sure that they become the setting for an attractive public offering? As co-chair of Vooruit.brussels, she works hard to make Brussels a safe, clean and affordable city, for the many, not for the few. In the office of Brussels State Secretary Ans Persoons (formerly Pascal Smet), she coordinates the VGC policy in the field of culture, youth & sports. She is an enthusiastic whirlwind who wants to help the talents of all Brussels residents grow. A broad and warm Dutch-language offering that ensures equal opportunities for all children and the ambition of a metropolis for the many artists that our city is rich in.

28. Mattanja Janssen

Mattanja is 76 years old and has lived in Jette with her husband since 2011. Mattanja is retired and works as a volunteer in the social restaurant l'Ange Gardien/De Engelbewaarder. Every weekend, together with other volunteers, she ensures that dozens of vulnerable or lonely residents enjoy a delicious meal and each other's company. She is also involved in the Pastorie and visits the sick and elderly every week. She is committed to a social community with more humanity, in which the elderly are not forgotten. She believes it is important to familiarize them with digitalization, so that they can continue to participate in a rapidly changing world.

30. Aïcha Rian

35. David Hernalsteen

David is 64 years old and has lived in Jette since 1991. He started as a catering entrepreneur and has been the owner of the Barapaot restaurant on the Kardinaal Mercierplein since 1997. Although he serves Belgian classics, David is a creative jack-of-all-trades. Not only does his menu change regularly, but the interior of his restaurant is also a life's work. He collects vintage and original objects to please everyone. David loves to bring people together and where better to do that than at the bar or around the table.
