Koekelberg

Koekelberg is the Chocolate Village with numerous cultural hubs. Despite the very dense city fabric, there is plenty of green space: Elisabeth Park, Victoria Park, Noville Park, and soon a new small park on Jean-Jacquet Street.

With Vooruit.brussels, we are further developing Jourdan Village as a social hub, with the Social Welfare Office and a residential and neighborhood center for seniors. At the “Burgercafé” or “citizencafe”, everyone is welcome for all kinds of social information and activities.

Koekelberg is a small, friendly municipality.

The challenges in our municipality are affordable housing, keeping public spaces clean, and providing a place where young people can meet. In short, a municipality where everyone feels at home.

Jurgen Dedeckere

Jurgen has lived in Koekelberg since 2009 and feels at home in this small, warm municipality. He believes in solidarity, humanity, and equality, and as a CPAS councillor and party chairman, he will work to make Koekelberg liveable and accessible for everyone. He considers efficient and fair governance essential, as is guaranteeing basic needs for every resident, regardless of their background. Jurgen listens to people and works with them on concrete solutions that contribute to the greater good.

Dirk Lagast

Dirk Lagast has been a member of the party since 1980. After a period as a recipient of social welfare, he became an educator in a shelter for the homeless and later a training officer at Foyer in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek. Since 2001, he has served on the municipal council of Koekelberg, where he is now once again an alderman. In 2019, he was chairman of the CPAS (Public Centre for Social Welfare) Council of Koekelberg and worked part-time at the VGC (Vlaamse Gemeenschapscommissie) Council. With his love for the municipality, he continues to be committed to fighting poverty and inequality.

Robert Delathouwer

Robert is currently the longest-serving Dutch-speaking mandatary in the Brussels region. Councillor in the CPAS since 1983, then deputy (27 years) and currently municipal councillor. He grew up in Koekelberg and therefore knows every nook and cranny. Today, he puts all his experience at the service of the municipality and the socialist majority. He also coordinates the heritage bank, guides in the Belgian Chocolate Village and in the Basilica, and actively promotes the Brussels dialect.
