What we fight for
Vooruit.brussels’ programme revolves around six key points. The objective? A city for the many, not the few. The objective? A city for everyone, not for the few.
Affordable housing
Houses for people, not for profit
Our city is the most expensive region in Belgium. People in crucial professions cannot stay in Brussels. There is a historical shortage of social housing and an outdated stock. We plead for smart densification of our city. Housing available for all incomes. Housing ready for climate change.
A safe city
Safe city for everyone. Everywhere. Always.
Brussels should be a safe city for everyone, a city where you can walk the streets in peace. Where we respect each other and where everyone has the freedom to be completely who they are. At any time of the day.
Clean city
A clean city, pleasant for everyone
Brussels is a beautiful city. But also, all too often, a dirty city. Too little progress is being made in the fight against litter, illegal dumping, dirty streets and squares, bulging bins and urinating in public. We are putting a stop to the status quo. Because things can be different. And they need to. The quality of life in Brussels and its international appeal are at stake.
Children and youth
Opportunities for every kid, to become the best version of themselves.
Today, we waste too much talent. There are not enough places in nurseries and schools. Lack of teachers means pupils spend hours not being taught. Language deficits create learning delays. Too many lunch boxes are empty. Too many young people leave school without a qualification. A change of course is needed. Because every child needs opportunities. And because taking action early pays off big time.
Brussels is buzzing
A city that’s fully alive. Day and night.
It is a place of inspiration for artists and there is always something to do: art galleries aplenty, so many options to eat, laugh and dance. It is buzzing and bubbling. And that's how it should be: a city in full swing. We want to create a climate where Brussels develops that potential even more. Where the talents of all Brussels residents grow. With room for initiative and support for entrepreneurs.
Pact for Brussels
Brussels is at a turning point.
Today, the Brussels region is organised in a very complicated way. Too many bosses, too much double work. At the same time, the Brussels Region is heavily in debt. This is what we propose: first put matters in order internally with an internal urban reform. Make sure Brussels has its affairs in order. Then we can talk about state reform, where we get more resources for Brussels. Vooruit.brussels has already thought it out, with Pact for Brussels.
